Daily Life Narratives in East Jerusalem

Received MA in 2010. This research examines the influence of the separation wall in East Jerusalem on the daily lives of the Palestinian residents of a specific neighborhood of Ashayyah. The main objective of the research is to examine the social construction of space in the East city with regards to the obstacles of the separation wall which separates between Palestinian  families and neighborhoods in this area. Through analyzing spatialized every day narratives and daily social and cultural practices, the aim of the research is to shed a new light on the effects of the wall as it is experienced by the Palestinian residents and to explore the social and political meanings evoking from the re-shaping of the physical and social urban spaces around the wall in Ashayyah.
